I’ve always found spools to be enchanting little treasures, each one bursting with potential for creativity. Their unique shapes and nostalgic appeal make them delightful decorative pieces around my home. In fact, I even incorporated some into the decor at my wedding, where they added a whimsical touch that guests adored. Recently, during a visit to a local craft store, I stumbled upon these adorable tiny wooden spools in the woodworking section. Their miniature size captivated me instantly; I could already envision how charming they would look in a necklace! With a heart full of inspiration and a shopping basket in hand, I gathered my supplies, which included wood spools, vibrant embroidery thread, chain, a clasp, jump rings, and pliers, ready to embark on this fun DIY project.

The first step in creating this necklace is selecting the colors of embroidery thread that resonate with your style. I opted for five lovely shades of pink, intending to create a beautiful ombré effect that transitions seamlessly from light to dark. However, you can choose any color combination that speaks to you, whether it’s bold primary colors for a playful vibe or muted earth tones for a more sophisticated look. Once your thread colors are picked out, start wrapping the thread around the spool, making sure to cover it completely. I found that wrapping it twice gave the spool a fuller appearance, adding depth to the design. To secure the end of the thread, simply loop it back under the layers you’ve already wrapped, ensuring it stays in place.

Next, it’s time to assemble your necklace! Carefully run your chain through each of the decorated spools, allowing the colorful spools to serve as the focal point of your accessory. This is where the creativity truly shines, as you can arrange the spools in a way that reflects your personal style. After positioning the spools to your liking, grab your pliers and open a jump ring to attach your clasp to one end of the chain. Then, connect another jump ring to the opposite end of the chain. Finally, close the jump rings securely and clasp the necklace together.

And just like that, you’ve crafted a one-of-a-kind tiny spools necklace that not only showcases your love for these charming little objects but also adds a unique touch to your jewelry collection. Wear it with pride, and don’t be surprised if it garners plenty of compliments wherever you go!
